- 1/2 lb pork sausage (sweet or spicy)
- 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 cup quality tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, pork sausage, breadcrumbs, sautéed onion and garlic, eggs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, basil, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf in the greased baking dish and top with tomato sauce.
- Bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let it rest before slicing.
