  • 6 medium tart apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix sliced apples with 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon until well-coated.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, and melted butter until crumbly.
  4. Layer half of the apple mixture in a Dutch oven. Top with half of the oat mixture. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving warm with ice cream.
